Tell us: When Will The Razorbacks Win an SEC Football Game?
So here is the deal. Last year was a tough draw for Bret Bielema as a first-year coach in the SEC. No one could argue it wasn’t.
The problem is no year is an easy draw for a team in the SEC West. We’ve seen a few practices. The schedule is well known for 2014. Let’s face facts, folks. It ain’t getting any easier.
Before the first kickoff of the first game of last season, when the “Rah Rah” was at its loudest, the University of Arkansas released the 2014 schedule.
“The 2014 football season will mark a new chapter for Razorback football in the Southeastern Conference,” Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics Jeff Long said. “From opening the season with an SEC game to concluding the regular season against new conference rival Missouri, the 2014 schedule will provide Razorback fans plenty of intriguing matchups throughout the season, including seven home games in Arkansas.”
Intriguing matchups, indeed.
“We are excited about the renewal of a series with Texas Tech and a return trip to AT&T Stadium in Arlington for the Southwest Classic. In addition, the launch of the SEC Network will help bring Razorback football to fans all over the country,” Long said.
Arkansas opens the 2014 season Aug. 30 at Auburn, marking the first time since joining the SEC the Razorbacks will open with a conference opponent. It also will be the first time since 1999, when Arkansas opened at SMU, that Arkansas will play its season opener on the road and the first time since a 1980 matchup at Texas that the Razorbacks will begin the season with a conference game on the road.
Bret Bielema chimed in, saying, “Next season marks a new beginning in college football with the addition of the College Football Playoff. Our 2014 schedule features quality non-conference opponents in addition to a strong slate of SEC games, which will be a positive for us and allow us to focus on one game at a time. We are excited about the challenge the 2014 schedule brings…”
Excited?!?!?!
OK.
We’ve not talked to many Razorback fans that aren’t petrified by the 2014 schedule, which is below for your complete review, and available here as a handy background for your computer, tablet or smartphone.
So the reality of the schedule is known. The early reports from spring practices are filtering out and the first public scrimmage is set.
